Ca' de Lion was found in 1871 by Luigi Ghione, who was inspired by our farthest ancestor, Leone Ghione (1655), from whom the winery took its name.
From then, five generations are gone and we take care of their history, affairs and evolutions of technique.
Last 50 years are the consolidations of company development and awareness: Ca’ de Lion produces and vinifies all its wines with last technologies about bottling and product processing.
But it’s Tradition the key word for this company reality: respect for territory grapes, respect for traditional wine making practices, respect for our roots and for the time’s lessons.

The territory
Langhe and Monferrato are Piedmont’s places where Moscato white grapes* grown; these kind of wine grapes produce Asti Docg and Moscato d’Asti Docg.The production area, marked off officially since 1932, includes 52 villages into the provinces of Asti, Alessandria and Cuneo; the Moscato’s vineyard surface is about 9120 hectares, shared out among 6800 wine makers. The zone is situated in the hill system on the right side of Tanaro river, where soils have the same geological origins and the same characteristics, both if they belong to Alto Monferrato and to Langhe: that is absence of rocks and very friable structure.
